  47. This README explains how to install the SKFMNT.SYS driver on a
  48. Windows NT workstation or server.

  70. Step 1: Start Windows NT.

  72. Step 2: Open the CONTROL PANEL.

  74. Step 3: Start NETWORK.

  76. Step 4: Select ADD ADAPTER.

  78. Step 5: Select <OTHER>.

  80. Step 6: Type in the path to OEMSETUP.INF.

  82. Step 7: Select the driver presented and select the appropriate configuration.
  83.     Then choose OK and restart your system.

  87. (4) TROUBLESHOOTING

  90. If you encounter problems using the SK-NET FDDI MCA Adapter, please
  91. re-read carefully the instructions above and the documentation supplied
  92. with the system.

  94. If this does not help, please send us a description of the problems you have.

  96. Also refer to your system log file (using the event viewer) and check
  97. it for entries from SKFMNT.
  98.  
  99. The last 5 DWORDs of the logging data are:

  101. - Slot number,

  103. - Interrupt number,

  105. - Dma arbitration level,

  107. - Base I/O port, and

  109. - Vendor code (3 bytes) / adapter id (1 byte)

  113. Follows a list of some events, possible reasons (may be incomplete)
  114. and suggestions to fix your problem.

  116. Event ID:    5001 -    Could not allocate the resources necessary
  117.             for operation.
  118. Reason(s):    Not enough RAM or pagefile too small.

  136. Reason(s):    Wrong interrupt, DMA channel or base address.

  138. Help:        Start a driver under e.g. DOS (with the same resource usage)

  153.             The driver cannot open the adapter.
  154. Reason(s):    The adapter was not enabled at system startup.
  155. Help:        First, check the system configuration. If it looks ok,
  156.           run the diagnostic program supplied with the adapter.

  160. send us your system log file or at least the event id number and the
  161. logging data (as dwords) of the entries made by SKFMNT.
